Latest News of the 1st Asia-Pacific Water Summit

The date of next year's 1st Asia-Pacific Water Summit has been decided after consultations with the concerned parties. It will be held on December 3rd and 4th, 2007 in Oita, Japan.

The Asia-Pacific Water Summit is one of the major activities of the Asia-Pacific Water Forum. Leaders from the Asia-Pacific countries and representatives of various stakeholders (by invitation only) will gather in Beppu City, Oita, Japan. In addition to the Summit proper, we hope those involved in water issues in Japan and abroad will hold various side-events not only in Oita Prefecture but all across Japan in order to raise public awareness on the water issues both before and while the Summit takes place. The details of the registrations of the side-events will be available on this website when they have been decided.

In order to make preparations for the summit, a project team has been set up in the Oita Prefecture, the host prefecture of the Summit. The project team will support the management of the Summit and will also help hold events for the public in cooperation with the Summit Secretariat (JWF). The local executive committee consisting of local eminent persons headed by the Governor of the Oita Prefecture will be established in January 2007.
