Water Champion Wouter Lincklaen Arriens: Building Bridges over Troubled Water

The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) urged countries to use the next 15 years to cut by half the number of people without clean water and basic sanitation services. Six years down the line, some countries just aren't getting there. And worse, water problems of all kinds are escalating—from shortages to pollution to wetlands degradation and more.

Clearly, countries need all the help they can get to accelerate their water programs and meet their MDG targets. ADB Lead Water Resources Specialist Wouter Lincklaen Arriens talks how ADB's new Water Financing Program (WFP) 2006-2010 can help countries achieve the targets.

BY 2015, the availability of good water to the citizen should be half the number when compared to 2000. This is really a good target. How our governments are working for it? How much amount has been spent for it in a target oriented manner?
What steps the central and state government of India and other countries have taken to achieve this.
Whether people are being tuned to accept this
Is any awareness programme is being planned to create more knowledge on water sanitation.
